Coffee in the Park

Hope everyone had a great weekend. With all this lovely weather, the office breaks are being taken at a nearby park rather than in the food court in the depths of the earth's core.

Can you see my little friend under the bench?
On the weekend, I had a really great conversation with some friends about the idea of anticipation, and how important that is to the value of an experience. For example, when there are books or movies that we're really looking forward to, waiting for them to be available is a big part of what makes the experience enjoyable. Two years ago there was a study in Netherlands, and it found that the best part of people's vacation wasn't how they felt during or after vacation. No, they felt their happiest before the vacation. Because having something to look forward to is often more exciting than the event itself.
So what are you looking forward to this week? This summer? This year?

Let's look forward to a great week! Thanks for stopping by!
And wishing my American peeps a wonderful Memorial Day!

  9. Yes, I've heard that before, about the anticipation and I suppose it's true. Same with nostalgia. Even if have a rotten vacation and we are miserable at the time, in the months or years to come, we often look back and remember things fondly.
