World Autism Day

As you guys may or may not know, yesterday was World Autism Day. The colour for Autism Awareness is blue, so yesterday I was dressed all in blue to show my solidarity for those with Autism, and their families.

According to a recent study in the United States, 1 in 88 children will develop some form of Autism. Just in the not too distant past the number was 1 in 10,000. That means two things are happening, the Autism disorders are being better diagnosed, but also there may be something happening in our environment that is causing Autism to develop. And no, vaccines do not cause Autism, that urban myth that swept the world is untrue. But we do know that Autism develops after birth, between the first and third year of a child's age, as the brain is developing at rapid speed, again according to the latest research. We don't know for sure. My sister's Autism was diagnosed 25 years ago, and back then nobody knew anything about it. I have to credit my parents for handling the challenging news with the good attitude they approach everything with. We didn't know what my sister's life would be like, but she's a bright, capable young woman, independent, a partner in a co-op, and although she probably doesn't know it, she has played a definitive role in shaping the person I am. Thank you Nazia. And God bless all the miracle children who live with Autism.

Thanks for stopping by and reading this.

    You look amazing!!!

  6. Hi Natasha, I come across to your cute blog. I have an autism nephew. he's 14 now. I love him dearly since he's different. It breaks my heart sometimes to see how different he is than other kids. I'm just sad to know what he feels inside.

Thanks to support the world autism day.

I really love your blue polka dots top and blue jeans. It's a great find .

  9. Great colors you choice! Compliments!

  10. love the colors in your outfit today!!

  11. Love your outfit! I believe that Autistic individuals are smarter than the average person. Thanks for putting some facts out there as well. I worked with autistic youth in the past, I learned so much and had some good times.

    1. Thank you for your sweet comment. My sister's honesty and authentic perspective on the world, has been the greatest gift in my life. We're lucky to know that amazing people we do, who happen to have autism.

  12. I heard about autism day but I didn't know it was a day of blue! You are looking super cute in all those brights :) And those statistics are a little scary but comforting at the same time. I mean, if they have a cure, YAY! But if there's some unknown thing causing autism more frequently, than that is scary

    Lovely Little Rants

    1. Thanks for your sweet comment Candace. There is no cure for autism, only treatment and therapy and programs for integration. The numbers are troubling, but together I know we can work on this and offer support the people who need it.

  13. I didn't realize so many children will develop autism. I have a cousin who has a high-functioning form . . . .

    I love that shirt!

    1. Thanks for your comment Ashley. Yes, the number has been dramatically increasing, but fortunately so are the means to help those with autism live wonderful, full, independent lives.

  14. This is such a great outfit! I love the jeans I almost bought some in this color the other day. Last semester in school I learned so much about autism and I even got to spend some time with autistic children. I learned so much from them like to be happy with what you have because I see that they can be happy with just about anything. The smallest things make them happy & make them smile.

    1. Thank you for this insightful comment Adriana. Yup, my sister has always helped keep me grounded and always remind me where real joy comes from. We're lucky. :)

  15. Love this blue on blue... and more importantly, how you're discussing autism. The increasing statistics are staggering; scary.

  16. No doubt you have great style but your smile is your best accessory!

I'm having a giveaway, an awesome Tote from H&M. come and get it!

  17. I love your beautiful style, but more importantly, how you're using your beauty for a good cause.

  35. As a sign of gratitude for how my son was saved from autism, i decided to reach out to those still suffering from this.
My son suffered autism in the year 2013 and it was really tough and heartbreaking for me because he was my all and the symptoms were terrible, he always have difficulty with communication, , and he always complain of poor eye contact . we tried various therapies prescribed by our neurologist but none could cure him. I searched for a cure and i saw a testimony by someone who was cured and so many other with similar body problem, and he left the contact of the doctor who had the cure to autism . I never imagined autism has a natural cure not until i contacted him and he assured me my son will be fine. I got the herbal medication he recommended and my son used it and in one months time he was fully okay even up till this moment he is so full of life.autism has a cure and it is a herbal cure contact the doctor for more info on drwilliams098765@gmail.com on how to get the medication. Thanks for reading my story
