Bus Ride

Romilla and I were on our way to find a place to shoot pictures, when suddenly Romi shouts (with exceptional glee) "Natasha! The school bus!" We had no choice, we had to at least try. And thank fully the very cooperative bus driver indulged our silliness.

Do you ever think of how socially significant school bus rides are? Don't believe me? Just watch an episode of 'The Simpsons' to see all the drama for Bart and Lisa on the bus. Kids are so picky about who they sit beside, "this seat is taken" (even when it's empty) or "I'm saving this spot for my friend."

I remember in high school, on class trips, when a guy and girl were just starting to like each other, if they chose to sit together on the bus ride, instead of with their friends, it was a declaration of interest. There were a couple of times we'd go on a school trip and the two started off as friends, but by the time the bus pulled back into the school's parking lots from the trip to the science centre, a new couple had been born.

I used to have to take a school bus when growing up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The school was on the other end of the city, it might as well have been on the other side of the planet when you're a little kid, because I had to get up at 5 in the morning to catch the bus on time! Mom, dad, can you back me up on this? Wasn't it cruel and unusual how early I'd have to get to catch the school bus?

Thanks for stopping by guys, hope you're having a great weekend!
