Whitney Houston: The Greatest Voice Of All

I want to dedicate today's post to a woman that brought a lot of joy and beauty into the world. Last night, one my favourite singers, and one of the greatest singers that ever lived passed away. Whitney Houston was only 48 years old, and was known equally for her troubled personal life and drug abuse problems as she was for her powerful voice and stunning beauty. Rest in peace Whitney. I hope you finally find the peace that evaded you for so long in life. Here are few of her performances that meant something to me.

I Want To Dance With Somebody
I heard this song for the first time in Montreal and I fell in love with her. I wanted to look like her, sing like her, I wanted to be Whitney Houston.

The Greatest Love of All
This is the first Whitney song I ever heard. My family was on vacation in the Philippines and one night while in the hotel, my parents turned on the TV and I heard this woman belt out this song and the way her voice moved me is something that has stayed with me always.

The Star Spangled Banner
Sure, many have sung this anthem, but none as powerfully as Whitney.
Good bye Whitney, "we will always love you."

  2. I'm so ridiculously sad about what seems to me to be her untimely death. I'm like a little kid about it. This is a really nice tribute post, Natasha. Thanks for sharing it.

  3. I hate drugs and alcohol! Good people's lives have been ruined or ended just like that! Now Whitney once a great singer with her voice reaching several incredible octaves has now become a statistic:(:(

May she R.I.P.finally and I know she will serenade our loved ones who are in heaven and may her daughter now get the help she needs to come off drugs!
Thanks so much Natasha for posting this wonderful tribute in Whitney's honour..:(

  5. so talented and such a loss. I read this tweet last night and copied it from the article. Its from a writer named Jordan Bach: Here's his tweet "May the wings of angels encircle Whitney Houston. Gratitude for her gifts, sorrow for her agony, and prayers for her release at last."

  6. I was so sad to hear of her death! I grew up with Whitney and Michael Jackson and now they are both gone. Couldn't believe it when I heard. Such talent.
