I have only been blogging for a few weeks, but it's New Years Eve, a time to review the year that was. Here are a few of my favourite blog posts.
Personal highlights of the year: Visiting Portugal, bringing Basil into our lives, writing opportunities with the Globe and Mail and Toronto Life Magazine, spending lots of time with friends and family, hosting and moderating several community events and of course - the blog has been such a source of joy. But there was one thing that defined this year for me and I've written about it below.
This has been a year I will never forget. As some of you know, in February of this year, my father was diagnosed with cancer, and it stole his ability to walk. You can read about that by clicking here. He was in hospitals and rehab for 8 months. I'm happy to report that my father is out of the hospital, living at my condo, and has beaten cancer and is quickly regaining his ability to walk! He's done it all with an incredibly positive attitude and good humour.
Throughout all this my mother has been dignified and strong. My sister is a source of inspiration and tough love for my dad. And I could not have made it through this year without the support of our many friends, family, our community, neighbours, my understanding colleagues at work and of course my husband Chris who has been my rock and light house when I felt lost at sea. This is a message of gratitude because I'm going into the new year with my dad, and I look forward to all sorts of new adventures.
Thank you everyone for visiting the blog, joining the site, offering feedback and support (not only for the blog but for everything). Wishing you all love, happiness and health for 2012.
