Inspiration: Romeo and Juliet

Today's inspiration outfit is dedicated to my cousin Umbreen. I asked her if there was something she wanted to see on the blog. Something that could inspire an outfit. She said she that was going to see Romeo and Juliet the ballet, and maybe I could find inspiration there.
So, this is the outfit that was inspired by Romeo and Juliet. I know it doesn't seem obvious how, but keep reading, I'll explain below.

It would have been easy to just go to a costume store and put on a Juliet (or Romeo) costume, but that's not I mean when I say inspiration. There are elements of this outfit that are inspired by quotes, images and colours that are in the Shakespearean play.

My red lips inspired by: "...crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks..."

You'll notice the stars around my wrists inspired by our star-crossed lovers.

My dress was made for this inspiration outfit. Purple is the colour of royalty and there is a reference to that here: "...With purple fountains issuing from your veins..."
And of course, the beautiful rose: "A rose by another name would smell as sweet."

Now maybe the cameo necklace is more Victorian than it is Elizabethan, but it is most definitely English.
And it's my nod to the writer.

Dress: thrifted; Cardigan: Joe Fresh; Shoes: thrifted; Bracelets: Mom's and Pink Peony; Necklace: very, very old; Pearl Earrings: Purple Jade

"O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?"

What a drama queen!

I hope this inspires some of you to have some fun while getting dressed.
That, or read some Shakespeare. Either is good.
