I wanted to pay tribute to a religion and a community that I have deep respect for because we are in the midst of Hanukkah celebrations. It may not seem obvious how this is a tribute but like my other 'Inspiration' outfits, it's not about putting on a costume, it's about being creative.
I wore a blue dress and blue blazer today since that is the colour of Judaism.
And, a couple of years ago, my dad went to Israel and brought home a necklace and earring set for me, my mom, and my sister - a set for each of us. Today I'm wearing earrings and a necklace that my dad brought for my sister from Jerusalem.
For a community that are so small in number, and have suffered horrible persecution, they have contributed so much to the world of science, politics, democracy, the arts, and so much more. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to go to Auschwitz in Poland to see the remainders of some of the darkest moments in the Jewish community's history. It was something I will never forget. And last year I had the good fortune to produce a documentary about Max Eisen - Escape from the Holocaust. You can listen to the documentary here.
