Date with Dad: Royal Blue, Bright Orange and Cream

As a writer, journalist, and political activist my dad gets invited to a lot of events as both a speaker and as a guest. Sometimes the events are nitty-gritty political rallies and sometimes fancy-schmancy gala events. He invited me to accompany him to an event recently but I didn't have any details about what kind of event it was. Usually I try to err on the side of being over dressed in such a situation, just as a safety precaution. I usually go with my standard dress with blazer combo which works in any environment, but in the spirit of being creative, I wanted to switch it up.

Chris recently bought me these fabulous satiny orange pants, again something I probably wouldn't have picked for myself, but he always challenges me to be creative and style things up differently.

I'm so happy with my treats from InPink.com. I mentioned them on yesterday's post. Especially the gold cocktail ring, I love the way it looks, it's so bold, it's a perfect statement piece without being in your face. Again, ideal when you don't know what kind of event you're getting dressed for.

All Fall I was looking for the perfect brightly coloured suede shoes. Aldo has a great collection, but they aren't at the price point I wanted. The ones at Urban Outfitters were perfect, but as usual they were out of my size. So when we were in Lisbon in November and I found these royal blue puppies, they had to come home with me.

So my new orange satin pants, a loose tunic in a neutral colour, another fun pop of color with my suede shoes, silk scarf and clean jewelry - I'm ready for a university lecture, a gala dinner, a theatre performance, or a simple coffee date with dad.

These pictures were taken by my lovely sister Nazia. She took pictures for me last week as well, probably the first time she has ever taken pictures. I'm really enjoying having an activity that she and I can share, and hopefully giving her a creative outlet as well.
~Have a great week guys!~

  6. I love the way you mix your colours - very bold and absolutely spot on. Shades of Blue and shades of orange - those 2 combinations are some of the most striking, ( i think) and I notice you do go for that pairing a lot - love it!
