Christmas Eve: The Urban Elf + Love Letter to Benazir Bhutto

Dress: Tristan & America; Preloved Sweater: Gift from Chris from Halifax; Tights: H&M; Shoes: Mom's; Earrings: Gift from Priyanka.
I would like to believe that if Santa was a younger, South Asian, fun-loving woman living in the city, this is what he would wear. If not, then fine, I'll just be an urban elf.
This dress is a bit short. Either it's getting shorter, or I'm getting taller, or I'm getting older. I bought it on Boxing Day, years ago when I was working at Tristan & America. I always associate it with the holiday season.
This awesome sweater was a birthday or Christmas gift from Chris when he was out in Nova Scotia a few years ago. It's from Preloved and when I turn around, you can see the remnants of the sweat shirts or sweaters that were used to make this new sweater.
See? A little peak of the old pattern.

My friend Priyanka got me these earrings. They look like little golden Christmas trees.
Thanks for swinging by, and drop by again tomorrow and I'll show you pics of what I wore to my aunt's Christmas Day dinner party.

On a more serious note, today is the sad anniversary of Benazir Bhutto's death. She is a woman I admired deeply. I had spoken to her on the phone many times over the years, and had the honour of meeting her just four months before she was killed. You can read my column and love letter to her that was published on the CBC's website: here.

  3. Great to note that you had communication with our Late Benazir Bhutto, whose death anniversary we just celebrated, she was assassinated by the mis guided element who were afraid of her political power & that time Military regime also did not protect her but joined hands in her elimination with extremist fanatic & fundamentalist groups. I had the honor of meeting Ms. Benazir Bhutto several times in my life, being in Minority Community Politics back home, i still have her pic with us handing in my bedroom wall, old memories to remember & Cherish!! A am so glad that you are a very enlightened young lady like your great Dad!! Love to see your Dad and you sometime in near future!! I did meet you at St. Mike Hospital when we had come to meet your Dad!! Convey my warm regards to your family and say hi to your dearest mum too from my end, as we have some common Bhori friends back home in Karachi!! Happy New Year Greetings to all of you!!
